Christchurch cyclist Johnathon Gee was involved in a serious accident on Friday 18th April. The crash left John with some very serious damage, including laicaf, back and internal injuries. He is currently in Christchurch hospitals' ICU unit.
John is a well respected cyclist throughout the South Island, and has established a good name for himself by consistently placing inside the top 10 at most races he enters. Most of his friends and people I have spoken with believe his impressive results were just the beginning of a solid future in road cycling.
At the moment his future is uncertain although John's strength of character will no doubt help speed his recovery. A donation box has been setup at Hardy's Healthy Living in Riccarton Mall for anyone in Christchurch, and I will sort out a donation account this week which will be available to everybody. All proceeds will go towards helping John's recovery costs.
Thanks all
James Styler
P.S. Please call in, would be great to talk to some of you Vorbers' and put names to faces - Regards JIM.

Which isn't very meaningful to people who don't know Johno personally - or what has just happened to him. But if you added some opening paragraphs about who Johno is, what has happened to him, what the current situation is, and what the donation box is for then we can put it to the homepage and promote it to the wider Vorb audience
jim go see a bank (preferably one you have an existing relationship with) and see if you can get a donation account setup. that way others besides chch'ers could donate.

I think the donations box is a great idea. It might also be worth having a chat to grewi - it can be difficult for those of us not near Ricc to pop into the mall, but if a similar donations box was set up in Coffee Culture Sumner it would make it very easy for cyclists to drop off some cash.

Fantastic idea.
I recall an online donation facility for the young girl who broke her back in the Roto Oce's in 06 (sorry - I forget her hame). Can't remember if it was set up on Vorb - possibly through Vorbshop - Tama will remember?

Hi all,
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Donations box will be up and running at Hardy's from Wednesday 23rd, and I will try and sort out a donations account tomorrow.
I will give Sumner Coffee Culture a call and see if they're okay with having a box put in - anyone know the name of the person I am best to go through?
Also going to try and get one put in the Main North Road Coffee Culture, as John and myself used to stop in there every Monday & Friday morning after our early morning ride. Cheers everyone, J.
