if you buy canon get extended warrenty

as my 10d died a horrible death(error 99) just 6months outside warrenty

took two and a half months for canon to look at it and say it was going to cost $680 to repair which i can buy a second hand 10d for (but mines still taking photos but no auto focus and has to be widest arpeture good suicide body)

Yup, went and purchased it [Canon EOS] on saturday, and they [Harvey Normans] threw in extended warranty for free Smile good buggers.

I'm very stoked with it. took some snaps of my new car and they look pretty crisp.

Im delighted with the results, which will only get better once i get some flasher lenses.

attached is a pic i took today of my new 1971 Austin 1100 MKii

Buy a 400D body then buy a lens (L series) for it

If you don't mind me asking, what would that cost in total?

L series lenses go for somewhere between $1000 and $30000.

What lens you get really depends on the sort of photography you are doing. Action photography, especially under forest canopy needs a fast lens (low f stop).

Look for zooms with a constant f-stop if possible, and the narrower the zoom range, the better they tend to be.

If you are on a budget, sigma lenses are great, but tend not to hold value as well as a Canon. Sigma make a 24-70 f2.8 lens that goes for a bit over $500.

Don't look at getting the ultimate setup in one hit. Get a body and a wide angle zoom, or 50mm prime. This will let you get started, and your group photos at christmas will be a hit.

$1000 to $3000 - That's lots Crazy haha, All in good time.

Yeah I think i'm going to go with the Canon, and just use the lenses it comes with till I feel the need for something greater. It seems that Canon seems to be winning the race!

Thanks muchly for your help!

L series are currently on sale 300mm 2.8 is $6500 down from $8100

24-70 2.8 is $1750

600mm f5.6 is still rnd $14000

1200 mm f5.6stillP O A

was swinging off a 400mm 2.8 in weekend 5.5 kgs Crazy Crazy dicided i didnt want to buy in a hell of a hurry second hand $5500 just to big
