That way I could admire more of the simply amazing scenery and take more photos
The QCW is very much worth riding for those of you are wondering whether to give it a go one day... | I took it much easier this year than I did last time I rode it. made it a totally different ride really enjoyed the siftiness of it this time round |
It was a race, wasn't it?

People who havent done this ride before, may be wondering about the trail, how long, fast and fun the downhills are, etc.
Here's a couple of pics that may help give an indication. I replaced my brake pads the week before going on the QCW ride. These are XTR sintered pads. The backing plates are normally just a dull grey metallic colour. I just took them out to clean them up because they are honking pretty bad. Check the colour scheme! Esp where the pistons have been pushing directly on the backing plate, all the colours of the rainbow.
This is just a light hardtail XC bike with 160mm rotors.
[cue the harrasment over dented using his brakes farrrrrrr too much]

Whoah!
Get off teh brakes au!
Or get 180mm rotors...
I know my 160mm XTR rotors suffer badly from heat build up. Which incidentally, is why I'm running my 200mm Saint setup at the moment...

Nah, no need for bigger rotors. They never faded or suffered for performance. And its not often I ride high speed flowing downhills non-stop for 10 minutes at a time (or more?)
I think 'get off the brakes' is the best advice

Maybe just a bigger one on the front?
All so you can always finish a ride with a stylish endo in the carpark

i took my bike to the bike shop this week as well, it hasnt been ridden since QCW. And i need a new rear rotor and pads, XTR as well. BUT they are both 18 months old so i can hardly blame the QCW on that.
