Hi Manawatu folks,

Just to let you know there will be entry forms for the Makara Peak Rally in at Pedal Pushers within a few days to go with the poster for the Makara Peak Rally that Steve was kind enough to put up on the notice board yesterday.

Hopefully we will see some of you down for the event, it's always a fun occasion and we make out-of-towners very welcome, especially those from Palmy. And I know of at least one car / van load heading down for the Rally already if someone is short of a lift, there might be room (PM me).

Early entries go in the draw for Ground Effect loot and we have a tone of spot prizes etc. Not to mention we will be using the new Lazy Fern track for the first time (downhill in the AM and uphill in the PM).

More details and discussion here:

http://www.vorb.org.nz/ftopic-60441-days0-orderasc-0.html

and / or here:

http://www.makarapeak.org.nz

hope to see you then, weather wise, we have ordered a mild southerly breeze with full sun (that's the thing that hides behind the clouds in Palmy).

Ben

I talked to Brian Gilbert on Friday while dropping off a poster at Southend Cycles on the way to Taupo... It sounds like he is likely to get a crew together to head down with BBQ etc. for the Makara Peak Rally on the 9th of December....

If you live in Levin and want a ride to the Rally drop in and chat to Brian. He should also have some entry forms by today. You can of course enter on the day, but if you pre-enter then you go in the draw for a $100 Ground Effect voucher Double Thumbs Up

Hope to see some of the Palmy & Levin riders there on the 9th...

Ben

Great, it's well worth the trip and there are more options this year for the Tour de Peak in the afternoon with a 'pie eater' class (Rec) while what was the Sport class has been made much harder (it's the 'Everything But' class really, only Trickle Falls and Vertigo can be skipped). Of course if you are a pie eater who likes going down hills there is the option of the duo class where you can team up with a weight weeny (or visa versa) and split the necessary riding into two (winning team is based on the time of the second person home for the team).

We also expect the option of doing the Relay in the morning (some people do both the AM & PM!) to be popular with the chance to pin it down Lazy Fern for the first time (and really only time, since it is supposed to be an easy / slow track).

ciao
