I'm sitting here nice and full after the usual three course meal and I can safely say my muscles are definitely feeling the effects of a days riding!!

Thursday meant seeding day, or as I liked to think of it "practise wearing your skinsuit day," as I still barely knew the course following the little time I had to ride yesterday with all the mechanicals. That said, still went hard and it was the first full, uninterrupted run I had ridden. All was going well in the practise in the morning except for a sore wrist after an embarrassing incident in the morning involving my arm somehow getting itself jammed in the door... it could only happen to me...

The NZ tent was busy with the XC juniors and all the DHers preparing for their respective races. When 12oclock came around I got laughed at for being the first Kiwi in the lycra, but pretty soon everyone was in the same situation. I jumped on the gondola and at the top sat on the wind trainer for a bit before heading to the start. Over all my run was very average. Came to a complete standstill a few times on my bike when I took the wrong lines and got caught amongst rock. It was however clean and I didn't pedal much so there is definately room for improvement and I know where there is heaps of time to be made up so I'm not too worried with my 8th place seeding. By the second half of the track I was struggling to hold onto the handlebars, it was without a doubt one of the physically hardest runs i've ever done. That said I can't wait till Sunday!!

How exactly the Fort William track is so solid I am unsure, because 30cm either side there is bog ankle deep. Not much fun for walking down in cycling shoes and a skinsuit like I did, but definitely good to get amongst the cheering and watch the elite riders come down.

For the next two days it will be practise, practise, practise and more practise for me. (All whilst trying to stay in one piece of course...) 4x is up tomorrow night and that should be good.
