Tuesday and Wednesday (4th and 5th of September)

With more and more people flooding the town of Fort William, the World Championships has begun to feel more real and now after finally getting a chance to ride the course it's all go!

Tuesday morning we were up bright and early as usual to pack up leave the hotel and of course get my first look at the 07 Worlds track. To sum it up let's just say there are rocks, lots of them and today I really got to know how that feels for around 7 minutes, 4 times. Personally I love the track and the physical challenge it presents. It's fast and rough (and thanks to the 'lovely' Scottish weather it was also wet and muddy.) Our mechanic Nigel has been super busy dealing with the steady flow of broken bikes heading his way and there's a bit of a competition running amongst the team with who can score the most free stuff from the event village. I know that the bike i've been borrowing has been kitted out by SRAM already, new derailer, brake cables, rotar and adaptor. Particularly after the kink in my cable gave me a near death experience. Actually. A solid day of riding has left my body super tired already, with my arms bearly holding onto the handlebars on the last run.

Unfortunately last night the majority of the NZ team missed the opening ceremony due to there being an accident between here and Fort Bill. Bit of a shame.

On a different note... When you really want something, it's amazing how well you can begin to improvise. I know that in our room we have already made a fridge out of the sink and a toaster out of the iron. Oh and a washing machine out of the bath, but everyone does that anyway...

Also, a big congrats to my room mate Samara who rode to a strong 19th place in the Junior Women's XC race today. Job well done!

Seeding run for all DH catagories is tomorrow. I'm a little nervous but it's no biggie as most of the riders aren't used to the course yet and instead of a full on race it seems to be more of a good chance to try out the skinsuits.Get news, entertainment and everything you care about at Live.com.
