Not the best start to the Kiwis medal hopes at this years UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Fort William, Scotland today.
The New Zealand Relay team comprising of XC riders Kashi Leuchs, James Williamson, Kaytee Boyd and Ashley Hough finished 9 minutes and 57 seconds back in 14 place out of a field of 15.

Switzerland took the gold with Poland 49 seconds back taking silver and the USA 1
minute and 9 seconds down claiming the bronze medal.

The Kiwi team was using the Relay race as a chance for the riders to ride the XC track under race conditions.

I read somewhere recently that it was just being used as a training ride, with the riders instructed to save themselves for their individual events. Also, Im sure Rosara was initially pencilled in to ride, so maybe a last-minute change there.
Its all part of the grand plan... Smile

Yeah, I read Rosara was meant to be on the team as well. Good to see the Swiss dominating again.

Yeah I think they should let the Downhillers race it next time. They dont race until the sunday and I'm sure they would have done better.
