Hi, just getting back into the sport after 14 years off, man technology has come along way since the old Klien Pinnicle fat frame day's.
Just keen to touch base with some local rider's in the Wairarapa who would be keen to get together to ride a few tracks and maybe looking at starting a local group to travel to events.
A quick chat to the local bike shops in Masterton state that the MTBing is deadish over hereI thought I would try and revive it.

Hi Nigel - I know Wellington folk occasionally go over into the Wairapa to do tracks like Kiriwhakapapa. There's also a whole lot of riding going on in the Akatarawas right now - which wouldn't be too far from where you live.

I have been thinking of starting a group for ages. Just don't have the time to ride let alone start a group/club
Keen to do some riding and track work when I can. There are some great places to ride. I did the King of the Forest series years ago which had a number in Wairarapa. They were awesome rides.
I have talked to Chris Petersen, who is on MDC and at DOC, in passing about using some DOC or MDC land to build some tracks, but never took it any futher... there is some great places that could be turned in a tracks or even a park.
yeah ngamu forest had some awesome riding years gone by. did many a race in there. if you know of any trails in there or are looking at a group ride somewhere drop us a line. Dave

Hey Dude. Every-ish Thurs night there is an informal night ride that is open to anyone with lights. Usually about 1/2 dozen riders. If you are interested just meet at Henley Lake main carpark-near the boat ramp-and be ready to go about 6pm-ish. The riding isn't too tech, simply because there is no good options close to town. It's a good social ride though and a chance to spin the legs. Perhaps check with James at Lamberts if you're unsure wether the ride is on. The 1st two times I went no-one else showed.
As for riding through the week, that's when I do most of my riding, because the trails are mine! I work shiftwork, so work weekends regularly. One of my colleagues does the same days and is a MTBr also. Neither of us are very fit at the moment though. Always keen to get out on the treadly, although just started a bunch of work assignments for a course in Sept, so that will be limiting my riding for next 3mths If you are looking for something more structured, check out the PNP series that kicks off in Aug. 5 races that run in Wgtn, Wainui and Porirua. I will def be going to 2 of them and more if I can get out of work.
Hope this helps.
