Podium places for the Kiwi riders at last weekends Caspoggio round of the Italian National Championships.
The track was the venue of the European National Champs last year and looked like a really fun track to ride. There were no big 'do or die' sections and the track flowed really well.
There was a huge pedally section right off the start line at 2100m, another about half way down and a big sprint to the finish line. at 1600m. Lots of loose rocks meant there were quite a few pinch flats over the weekend. The flat-out natural section about 3/4 of the way down was full of jumps and grassy drifting off camber turns as by far was the best place to watch.
Glenn said "because of the high altitude and the big sprint off the start line, it was really hard to keep focused for the techinical tree sections."
Reon Boedozer had been doing some hill climbing around Morzine in the week prior to the race and it looks like it had paid off for him getting 9th place.
There was lots of interest in all the Kiwi riders from everyone and Glenn and his bike got interviewed for an Italian TV exterme sports channel.
We also got given an Italian bike magazine with a story and photos about Glenn being the series leader and about how 'Mx-Style' the 2stage was to be able to beat Allan Beggin...
Nathan Rankin won the elite mens category with Glenn Haden of 2stagebikes in 3rd.
Glenn has also managed to hold onto the yellow series leaders jersey, much to the dislike of the Italian riders.
Junior rider Matt Scoles had a reasonably clean run and ended up in second place behind Valentino Rossi look-a-like, Marco Burgone.
Marco looks like Italy's best hope for Junior World Champ, posting a time that would have placed him 4th overall.
Now it 8 hours drive from Italy, up over the Bernina pass into Switzerland then through Austria to the German Autobahn and back into Austria to Schladming for next weekends World Cup.
