The weather played havoc on the track, down pours of rain and torrents of water washed over the already knarly track. Many girls decided not to race, and everyone went for a slide or two on their bums at some stage during the day! We were feeling a little apprehensive at the idea of racing in such challenging conditions... but none the less, off we went!
Harriet the Hucker, hucked a little to big the day before the race and totalled her wheel and her forks and got some brillo bruises! Understandably, she opted out of racing....
Punter raced the qualifying run and was going swimmingly until some spectators got in the way... They were oggling the poor fella who had smoked himself in front of Punter, and got in the way as Punter was charging down the track.. uh oh! Punter goes nigh nigh's. Crashes and blacks out minutes later, finding himself sprawled out on the road below. whoops.
I got up there for my qualifying too, having to take the Cable car from town, then bike down a random DH track to get to the actual race track.... what a bloody shambles! Then had a good run until i got caught in the netting after having an 'over the bars' experience.
After which, I crashed another 4 times.... costing me a lot of time and strength. I thought I was completely O.T.A, but i somehow I qualified to do the race run... I couldn't believe it! Unfortunately, I couldn't do another run, as I had smoked myself. A little disappointed, but I am happy I actually did have a race on the Knarliest track ever... and survived to tell the tale.... oh.. and to see Sam Hill have the most amazing race run ever in the rain.... absolutely amazing!
Well, enjoy the new piccys and I'll let you know how the race in Montriond goes next weekend!

Cheers for the update, good luck for the next one - hopefully you folks will get better weather at the next round (surely it can't get much worse?) and that's a bummer about Punter's run - it's always disappointing to hear about stuff like that - which should've been preventable. I guess it's a part of racing to a degree, but it sucks when things happen that are out of the rider's control like that. In a perfect world all the riders would get similar conditions and the spectators would stay a foot or so back from the race-line.
Onwards and upwards!
