Hey, kiaora, talofa, malo
Here is the news for early 2007
Lance "yak" Tavinor has gapped it to greener pastures in Rotorua, good luck bro, you and your trail building will be missed greatly.
Parihaka. Logging has not started, nor do they have a start date so ride as much as u can before they come back in.
Summer events. Sorry about the lack of organising any events. i am intending on a few informal timed runs and a few shuttle days ,so for those intrested please pm or email me. Also go support this local event
The Northland MTB Challenge, 25 March
Glenbervie Forest, Maruata Road, Whangarei, New Zealand
A great ride consisting of gravel, 4wd and forest roads plus single track. Choose your distance - Open 60kms; Womens 50kms; Fun Ride 12kms; Juniors 3kms.
www.northland-mtb-challenge.zoomshare.com/, mtbchallenge07[at]gmail.com, Ph: 09 435 0780 29th
Club builds. With Lance gone and such, we will have to organise these build a bit better, and alongside other users of the area so get in there. if u want something to ride go build it.........
Club Fees: for this year are due, its only 10 bucks for the unwaged and $20 for those who work, this will help pay for some building material and other stuff.
cheers
Mark

Caution:
Craig and i went for a ride up the hill and parked on memorial drive, car was broken in and they taxed a tihs load of stuff, including the club folder with all race info and club info, and the money from last weekends race, will cliam insurance on it but a major pain in the esra.
Park at the bottom of the hill.

We held a race last weekend, on lower section of the hill called ressurection, which was won by local Phil Jennings (Mens) and Kylie Mitchell (womens). With other riders from Auckland and 1 Canadian it made for a great First up formal race for the club. Youngest rider was Carlos Wirihana (8 years old) and there were quite a few riding in there first event.
The club was formed to provide riders with an avenue to meet other riders, build trails and just ride. Currently we are working together with other reserve users to rebuild many of the trails that were destroyed in the Pine Tree Harvesting.
April Fools Race is going to be held on Sunday April 1st. This will include trails from the top of memorial drive to the bottom of the hill on Abbey caves road. There will be Classes for Mens/ Womens/ Under 15 and also a First timers Class where they will have an easier trail to get down.
We really are pushing the participation angle to get people riding in the area, however there are a few fast guys out there to compete and will be really great to watch on some of the fast trails.
The cost of the event is $15 and $5 for the First Timer Class, Entry Forms are at Avanti Plus but riders can also register on the day at the bottom gate of Parihaka on Abbey Caves Road. There will be shuttles (lift to the top of the hill)from 9.30am and racing begins at 12pm.It will be a fun day with spot prizes, the trail is ridable by all from learners to experienced riders.

HORSES on the trails AGAIN...........
1. If you see some horse riders on the trails please make them aware that it is for bikes and walkers only.
2. be polite.
3. if they ignore you just get a description of the rider and pm me, i will contact the council and inform them of the problem.
Do Not...scare the horses, yell at them, tell them to F#$% Off....
Oh yeah they rode up the step down lander, and up the flat track at the bottom, horse tihs and holes everywhere..........

hey everyone
just a favor, if you are not racing i could really use a few people to help out this sunday, last count was about 35-45 riders that i know of (looks more like 50-70), and thats not including any of the local groms as not to sure if they were keen or not, so if you can come help or you are gonna race and your parents or girlfriend or wife can help email me or pm me.
later
