Help. I've just arrived in Wanganui from the UK and am really missing my riding mates not to mention our weekly night rides and stuff. Is there anyone out there who could show me the delights of the Wanganui area? (willing to drive out a bit just as soon as I get a car) Be good to hear from other riders who have some 'local knowledge'
Anne

I can vouch for that Inglewoods a 2 hour drive away so I dont think it would be much of an issue, unless you're going to Lake Mangamahoe

Best thing you could do probly is go and talk to the local bike shops, join ya local club, do some rides with the local clubbies, (not too many of them are posters, but i'm sure there are a few lurkers, yes we know you are watchin )
I have heard Ok things about both bikes direct? and the bike shed, and there is a strong little DH scene in wangas, and a good little XC race series too

I'm an ex Wangas rider. Now in Welly so probably not too much help. Good starting point... go talk to Doug Rennie at the Bike Shed. He is involved in the local club, is a good bloke and will be able to point you in the right direction.
Hylton Park (Brunswick Road, Aramoho) is pretty handy if you haven't got a car as you can just ride there from pretty much anywhere in town. I used to just cruise out there after work and ride quite a lot in summer.
Lismore (20km north off SH4) is some great riding but it definitely helps to go with some locals to find your way around if you want to get the best out of it.
Enjoy your riding in Wangas... there's certainly tonnes of fun to be had.
