I wonder if Robbies ridden that far yet? |
Keep wondering, big nose
Long term test to come.
Although a story of my two most recent crashes should thrill the masses more, wooden tit?

Geeze Robbie, I know you have a rather bitter perspective here on Vorb, but that rant really was nasty and insulting.

Being a big boy, shall we say beef cake! I thought I would try the new Trek EX8 to see how it compaired to the trusty old Reign.
I borrowed the bike from a friend set the suspension to take the weight of my rather heavy esra. First things first the rear shock is easy to adjust and in aaccessible position. First thoughts, the bike certainly is Aestheticallt pleasing and weighing in under 30 pounds it seems to be a good bike. After taking the bike for a good mission a few things sprang to mind The rear suspension design leaves little to be desired with no pedal bob while climbing yet remaining supple and responsive as soon as it points any direction that is gravity assisted! The front seemed a little twitchy and it felt as the the back out performed the front, but to be honest I could have spent a little more time tuning the forks to fix the problem. The bike really came into its own on tight single track and was nimble and accellerated well and the rear end tracked beautifully and hugged the gound as if on rails, and to be honest its not the rider in this case causing those tires to stick, shall we say muppet! After only one ride I really liked the bike pedals extreamly well and decends with confidence and the suspension design eats most anything in its path. I feel this bike having 5 inch of travel will suit the bigger boys looking for something a bit different and still performs well like the trusty reign! I reccommend giving this bike by Trek a go when you are next thinking about replacement. 4 out of 5 stars.

Yarr the new Treks using the Split Pivot are interesting beasts indeed.
They should pedal like a single pivot, and brake like a 4 bar (Specialized) bike.
This is because the drive side is a single pivot, and the braking side is just like a Speshy
A very good compromise I woulda thunk. But as always the devil is in the details......
