Coolest thing I found was waking up in the middle of the night and being able to read the alarm clock on the other side of the bed without need to put my glasses on!

But I don't want to know that the alarm is about to go off. I want to go back to sleep in blissful ignorance!
I got some disposable contacts a few years ago and had quite a shock when I took a shower. Was not used to seeing my own naked body in such high definition

I have heard (forget where) that once you have had it done it changes the contour of the eye in such a way that if you ever did need/wish to wear contacts again you can't.

When I first got contacts, disposables weren't an option due to the astigmatism I had. In XX amount of years the technology has changed and now I have them(and they suck).
If there's a possible issue with the surgery affecting future use of contacts I'd hope that the lens technology might also adapt accordingly. They have in my case over the years.

Being only -1 I'm a perfect candidate for it apparently. I dont think I will though unless I get worse (which 10 years = probably likely). I think I look more sophisticated in me glasses

They don't take off that much!!!
The issue is if you have to have cataract surgery, i can't recall exactly why but I had the dimensions of my cornea recorded for when if it happens (sadly a very real possibility for me )

get it done and just wear non prescription lenses. Winning on both fronts. perfect visios and a vision to look at in your designer frames.
I'm keen on getting this done, my eyes are on the limit on dryness for contacts. I used to have a horrible time racing. i'm a bad blinker and before races I get all wound up and forget to blink. Once in blenheim nats i totally forgot to blink, then when i went into the forest from out in the open just after the start the light changed, i blinked, my contacts went blurry with left over eye juice and I went off the track and into a tree.
I just dont know about having fricken laser beams pointed at me peepers.. hmmm

Depends on where you go.
I did mine through LaserSight in Hamilton..... they have a range of options but I went with the 6 months interest-free via GE Money (already had an account with them)
As for laser beams......my worst eye took 36 seconds (4 pulses of 9 second zaps). The bizarrest thing is have the epithelial cells rubbed off the surface of your eye! No pain, just a weird sensation
