Musket - A good bike is one that has the right angles and geo. Look at the Orange for example. Peaty won on that because it was designed for the sorts of courses that he was riding.
What I am trying to impress here is that should the next manufacturer listen to Hill on what he wants for a new bike, then maybe we will see that in the production bikes too. Everyone wins (but especially the groms).
Look at Barel and his move to Mondraker, Vouilloz and his move to Lappiere, Cedric and his move to Commencal. All of those are really good bikes but not so easy to get hold of as the Horse Wink

One thing I thought about last night, when Hills contract is up theres always the chance someone offers him more money to ride for them, so it might not just be about ironhorse not making sundays any more!

you should read the bit in dirt about gee and dans new commencals, and the fact that the commencal has said that they would never make a production frame with the same set up that there pros use. as they in most cases they would be at best hard to ride and in some cases unrideable. hell they even go on about how dan and gee couldn't ride cedrics setup as it was to short in the rear.

can't say that i would want a ture factroy setup as i bet i would be faster on a stock set up that was a little bit more forgiving

How many people here have ACTUALLY ridden a Sunday??
It is hands down, the best bike out there for DH at the moment. The V10 and Yeti come close, but the Sunday definately holds an advantage.
Look at the fastest riders, they ride the bikes mentioned above and for good reasons.

You forgot the Athertons champ, do believe they're fairly quick at the moment

Best comment in this thread so far. Comparing pro riders rides (even though they may be called the same name and have the same colours and stickers) with production bikes is like comparing a WRC works rally car with your off the shelf Evo or WRX.

Exactly right. That was a brilliant article that one.
Also, from memory, not even Steve Peats V-10 is a production frame, its an extra-large frame thats been tweaked & modified as well.

..gawd, aint those Commencals pretty bikes.

Yep, almost all the pro's bikes are lower and slacker and longer than production DH frames.
After all, they ride harder and faster than anybody else in the world. And the world is really big Smile

had a wee spin on a worked 5.5 yesterday, very nice. 6" front and rear and around 30 pounds. and the owner was rating it better than his SX for going down.

It will be a shame to lose such a good DH bike, but I'm sure whoever works with the likes of Hill next will produce something of equal quality if they know how to listen. Wink

No one is denying they are a good bike, but it does sound like they won't exist after this year which is what the discussion is about, capiche?

It's c-a-p-i-s-c-e.
