In 1993, the Food and Drug Administration ordered an automatic detention of all shipments of Woodward's into the U.S. on the basis of it being an unapproved drug. Woodward's has since been marketed online as a supplement although a 2000 review in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine found that most of the ingredients in Woodward's gripe water are of questionable value in relieving infantile discomfort, and that getting a fussy baby to stop crying may be no more complicated than giving it some sweet-tasting liquid.

My nephew (6 months) has recently been but on a low dosage of Losec (adult indigestion med). It's worked absolute wonders. He was like a different bub last time I saw him - better rested, happy, and asleep when he should be.

Would a baby know what it was meant to do though Eh? My guess is no.

Depends how old the baby is.. a 1 year old is very aware of this type of thing, to them medicine fixes everything.

Yeah our second son had terrible reflux and we put him on thickened formula - the difference was night and day.

Midwives aren't there with you at 3am with a crying baby either.

If it works, do it.

Pamol - my boy is immune to that now - we are trying for something stronger
Any suggestions?
Not stronger as such but different: Brufen. Infant's ibuprofen, reduces fever and inflammation. We've used it for our kids with ear infections, fever, throats etc. when the pamol wasn't cutting it. I think it's pharmacy only and I'm sure it has some possible side effects like any drug.

Datsane, midwives are an opinionated but very varied bunch of women. I'm married to one.Big Grin

The best advice going for parenting. Don't seek out more stress by being dogmatic about things!

Like possible stomach ulcers/bleeding....make sure they are taken with lots of food, if the ingredients are anything like adult Ibuprofen.

Yar, having looked at the bottle it says "with food" and "Prescription only", so it wasn't much use me recommending it because it's not for general sale to us punters anyway.
