Hit by a car, wearing a helmet, without which would have been nasty. You can show all the stats you want, but there are so many people with stories like this (me included) that I will continue to always wear a helmet and encourage others to do so.

I'll happily donate helmets to the cause. An advertising campaign that was gory would be great too. A guy I work with has a flip book of photos of actual results of non helmet wearing cycle accidents he has collected from trauma and ambo workers around nz and the world. He shows it to kids we see not riding helmets, and to the parents who are sometimes with their kids. Gets the message across pretty well.

For those who dont think gory ads work: look at the recent alcohol ads that have come out (kid swung into cupboard, woman getting raped, guy getting beaten up). Since these ads have come on and replaced the old "daggy dad dancing" ads, numbers of calls to the alcohol help line have jumped around 80%. Incredible.

Well it's not really. It is for anyone who would like to help.

But he does raise some kucfing good points.

A nice gory ad campaign would really help the cause I think.

I have also been hit by cars several times and would be in a very bad state if I was not wearing a crash lid of one kind or another.
