MTBNZ have ammended their minimum body armour requirements for dowhill events at a national level.

If and when we the club starts running races we will probably align to this standard.

I agree with this standard. It covers the main areas of injury.

Although I am glad they made it ok for senior riders just to wear a long sleve jersey, without arm pads.

its a sensible standard, although it will be interesting to see how much of a stink is thrown up about the compulsory gloves, with the fashion being to go without gloves at the moment (ala Sam Blenkinsop)

Out of the countries with governing bodies like MTBNZ, does anyone not have a mandatory full finger glove regulation?

I believe that over the next year, this will be the recommended guidelines for clubs running events. Next years sanctioned events would most likely have these rules as compulsory.

It is also possible that all MTBNZ affiliated clubs will follow these rules for their events.

Will they actually do anything if we dont wear elbow and forearm protection? Or do you think that they are just putting this up so that when somebody gets hurt they wont be in the tihs?

From what i remeber its based on a scottish code of conduct that has been in force for some time now.

Concider yourself warned though , at our races we ask people they have a full face at registration but its not until your on the start gate ready to roll that you will be DNF'd without the right gear.

Im sure there will be more information out as the events get closer.

I suspect this information has been put out there early to get people used to the whole idea.

good to see members are reading the newsletters and giving some feedback. Double Thumbs Up

this is a bit silly .the requirements should be minimised down a bit like only having a fullface a knee protection being compulsary. Not many people that i know of wear elbows its a bit over the top
