MTB Skills Clinic(s) the original traction controllers

If you are having trouble getting onto our site please click here for the right link. www.mtbskillsclinics.co.nz

If you are after lessons on how to improve your MTB handling Skills check out the MTB Skills Clinics, www.mtbskillsclinics.co.nz run by Dodzy and Gabby all over NZ. They have been running their clinics for over four years and have a huge depth of knowledge on actual mountainbike skills.

All of their clinics and techniques are based on physics rather than reaction/hearsay, and offer concrete information on how to combat the myriad of problems that affect mountainbikers.

Typical things a clinic will fix is,

Arm pump, if you get it you are doing something wrong (no joke!!!! and doing strengthening exercises won't help)

confidence in loose gravel

braking without skidding or tipping over the bars

correct cornering technique

balance and stability on rough, loose, steep terrain

maintaining speed through rough sections

They will also do mountainbike specific bike fits if necessary.

These guys really know what they are talking about and their knowledge is not just for beginners but extends to all facets of bike riding. You don't change the physical properties affecting a rider just because they are slow or fast, its all the same, and what makes a beginner safe and relaxed, makes an experienced rider faster and more in control.

They are both avid Pro Downhill racers so they also get out and practise what they preach. The entry clinic is called the Phundamentals and covers all of the basic but forgotten/missed info needed to make a bike work. It is based on the same principles as skiing, snowboarding, surfing and driving a car, simple information that makes a huge difference at all levels.

Ask around, you might be surprised how many of your mates have already done one!

These courses are well worth doing. If you want to go faster, don't go and spend thousands on new hardware... start by fixing the nut that holds on to the bars.

Highly recommended

Been riding for over 15 years and did the phundamentals course with Dodzy at Easter. Highly recommended - has something for even experienced riders with ingrained 'bad habits', and has made a noticeable difference to my downhill speed.
Will be doing the trailmaster clinics next time theyre in ChCh. Double Thumbs Up

You may have missed my point, a lot of people blame their equipment for their riding issues. It doesn't matter what you ride if your basic skills are rubbish your riding will be rubbish. Agreed these courses do help a rider get the most out of their bike, more importantly they help get the most out of the rider.

I think you missed Robbie's point, which is that he has a fetish for over priced and under ridden pieces of metal.

What Dean said, grab a group and I am sure you will have a great day, and gain knowledge that will be very useful. Both Dodzy and Gabby are expert communicators, and what they provide will make riding safer and more fun.

And, you will get more out of your bike, no matter what it is.

Kyle, if you think my expensive bike is under ridden, drop around and clean it for me a few times a week, there's the chap Smile I might be able to explain the difference between enthusiasm and a fetish, focussing on the former Wink

You associate yourself with the brand, then you associate yourself with the flak that goes along with the brand as well. No different to the annual Kona-bash.
