I don't expect sinep size to match the inflation however, as much as Intense owners might expect.

Ever thought that the BIANZ was trying to scaremonger everyone into buying bikes now? They are hardly an independent body are they?

I dont think this document was written for the public. They are a trade body. But I have heard about the price issue from other trades before hearing things from the bike trade. I dont just sell bikes........

no I think the gap between them will close as US labour has not changed. I cant see US sourced product going up much apart from the cost of freight. Chinese sourced product will go up.

Sad You where meant to make some witty remark about how tihs Giants are.

Sorry. Giants are tihs!!

I dont really think there tihs, just over rated.

Funny, last year giants (As an example....) were more expensive - they have come DOWN in price about 10%.

Has this fluctuation in the cost of the manufacturing process occurred only in the last 6 months? Eh?

No more to it than just that. This season bikes were bought with a very good NZ dollar against the US dollar. from memory 07 bikes were bought when the dollar was about 50-60c to the US dollar. 08s our dollar was much higher. So bikes got cheaper.

At least this is my understanding being a spastic old man.

I dont believe any bikes are made or assembled to box state in NZ anymore (apart from custom builders and reiker cycles). And product bought from asia is bought in us dollars. HTH

well with the sky rocketing prices and drop in house prices it looks like we will all be riding bikes from the warehouse next year.

maybe there could be an under $150 (new) matchracing downhill series.

eeek. I've already noticed how ridiculous bikes and parts are here already..... more increases are just nuts.

I do 99% of my shopping OS- and have done for many years.

God bless Ebay USA ad chain reaction cycles.

Amen.

I'm not saying price won't go up I just believe "skyrocket" is possibly overstating the situation.

What constitues a "skyrocket" these days, 50%?

"Skyrocket" is from my mad copy-writing skillz as 40% would mean a $2,500 bike would cost $3,500 next year.
