We were supposed to be going (with other half racing in the 4X) and had planned it to be part of our honeymoon but since it has now been moved to Nelson that is no longer the case.
We have already booked flights to Queenstown and the Milford Track so a no show from us (which is a shame as OH was hoping to improve on his placing at Rotorua and he bought a Transition double especially).

Unless anyone can get us from Queenstown to Nelson and back on the cheap?

Thats right, all the normal classes as a standard National's race.
Occeania titles are only for the elites and groms.
but don't worry groms, cos there is NO NEW ZEALAND TEAM, so any of you could become occeania champ. Same for the elite boys and girls, NO NEW ZEALAND TEAM. I really really hope a kiwi wins each class and they stand up on the poduim and say, "sorry I'm not in my countries uniform, cos even tho the race is even being held in our own country, we don't have a NZ team"

gnikcuf winners!!!!

Aussie stopped selecting teams also.

IF we selected our best three in each grade it would be a very small event. If there were 20 counties in Oceania then that would be viable.

When we did select 10 in each grade, in some cases it was all the registered riders in a grade. And the ability was so vast that in my opinion some should not be representing NZ, its High performance not participation.

Also half the riders moaned that they couldnt wear their sponsors clothing......
I am all for the open approach and take the best to the Worlds in the NZ team.
I thought the 60 odd riders at the Rotorua worlds was ridiculous. That was a 1/3 of all the registered riders in NZ!!

Oceanias New Caledonia 2002, NZ team, NZ uniforms, huge oceania UCI points.... stop watch timing - organised on the day, New Caleonian takes the victory improving on his winning time on the same course the weekend before by a huge margin..he was so fast the locals were celebrating before he got over the line... hmmm.. in pro there was 3 aussies 7 Kiwis and a couple of monkeys form noumea. what a pile of parc and a waste of time & money. My best memories are from the ssip up(justin havukeinan running from the local cops with his hands cuffed behind his back and trying to jump a 2 foot high fence and just clipping the top with his feet...) made it all worth while cause the race was a complete waste of time

oceanias is a poor confused race that highlights the complete lack of worth the UCI points system is.
