Beginners, novices, veterans and elite riders are all welcome to come up to the Karori community just out of central Wellington and enjoy the day of riding/racing and entertainment. 3 events in one with a 24hr/12hr and 6hr over one night and one day, plus a 24 minute race for kids.
Makara Peak is a custom built Mountain bike park on 200 hectares owned by the Wellington City council and managed in co-operation with the Makara Peak supporters club (MPSC). To support the continued sustainable management of Makara Peak $5 dollars from each entry will be donated to the MPSC.
Course description:
With the help of local Wellington riders we have designed a course thats challenging and fun. The Supernatural course includes a climb to the top of the Makara Peak (412m) through varied terrrain (single track and dirt road wide enough to pass) followed by an awesome fast flowing sheltered 2.3km single track descent. Lots more famous custom built Makara Peak single track features (and a little dirt road/road pavement) before the return to the Supernatural race village. Approx 9km per lap.
The single track routes have been designed for a wide range of abilities. The course has something for all riders from Beginners/Intermediates and Advanced and gives faster riders passing sections when they are needed (on climbs).

$70 for a solo is super cheap. I hope makara peak supporters are getting something out of it too.

No, I'm never going longer than 12hr, theres only so many times I can handle riding around in circles.

cool event. no 12/24 relay events in welly, then two pop up in one season! should be good attendance if the amount of wellington teams at moonride and Taupo DNT are anything to go by.
whats the land like on the west side of makara peak, as thats probably the only place you could have a tent village?

I'm thinking it would either have to be a the school or at Karori Park. However both options necessitate using the road in some form or another
