Summer is upon us so it's time for the Vorb Video Competition. This year sees an interesting twist with multiple chances to win thousands of dollars worth of prizes. Each entry must feature only one New Zealand rider and entries will be judged on filmmaking and riding style in two separate sections by panels of well-known judges. Think of it as making a video C.V. showing off your riding and/or filmmaking skills.

[VOTING CLOSED MIDNIGHT 14/04/08 - CLICK HERE TO VIEW FINALISTS]

SRAM RIDER SCHOLARSHIP
The top three riders as voted for by a judging panel of well-known mountain bikers will receive SRAM Scholarships of their choice of SRAM componentry to help them with their riding.
Gold - $2,000(RRP) SRAM gear of their choice
Silver - $1,000(RRP) SRAM gear of their choice
Bronze - $500(RRP) SRAM gear of their choice

This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your riding talent, gain valuable exposure, and score yourself enough SRAM gear to bling your bike out. Winners of the SRAM Scholarship will be required to submit an additional video showing them using their SRAM componentry. Thank you to SRAM for recognising and supporting emerging talent in our community.

Judges
The judging panel for the SRAM Scholarships is:
Brett Frew
Cameron Cole
Gabby + Dodzy
Justin Leov
Paul Needham
Randy Spangler
Robyn Wong
Vanessa Quinn

HANAFINS FILM SCHOLARSHIP
The top three filmmakers as voted for by a judging panel of well-known mountain bike filmmakers will receive scholarships from Hanafins in association with Canon.
Gold - $2,000(RRP) Canon gear of their choice from Hanafins
Silver - $1,000(RRP) Canon gear of their choice from Hanafins
Bronze - $500(RRP) Canon gear of their choice from Hanafins

Judges
The judging panel for the Hanafins Scholarships of Canon camera gear is:
Ambrose Weingart (CKD/ Pist-n-Broke)
Caleb Smith (Spoke Magazine)
Chris Arnison (Dystomedia)
Darcy Wittenburg (The Collective)
Graeme Murray (Filtered Vision)
Toni Mundel (Drop In/ Rip TV)

SPOKE MAGAZINE
Spoke Magazine will be doing a story on the winners and watching the entries with keen interest. Fancy yourself in the Spoke Magazine photo section? This competition is a sure way to get your skills noticed.

SPOT PRIZES
Everyone who enters will be eligible for spot prizes from SRAM, Hanafins and Spoke Magazine.

HOW TO ENTER
You are free to enter as many videos as you like before midnight the 31st of March 2008(NZST), as long as they fit the following criteria - The video must:
* Be about cycling
* Feature only one New Zealand rider
* Identify the featured rider by their full name at the beginning of the clip.
* Be your own camera/editing work (joint entries of up to three people is fine.)
* Be over a minute long
* It's your responsibility to get permission for the music you use [Click Here For Guide]
* All riders must be wearing helmets

[CLICK HERE TO UPLOAD YOUR ENTRY]

VOTING
All registered users on Vorb will be able to select their top 5 videos and top 5 riders. Voting finishes on midnight the 14th of April 2008(NZST). The top ten rated riders from the top ten users will go into the finals to be judged by our panel of rider judges. The top ten rated videos from the top ten users will go into the finals to be judged by our panel of film judges. Please be aware that attempts to rig the voting will be detected and dealt with.

The winners will be announced on the 30th of April 2008

This is an awesome chance for aspiring filmmakers and riders to get themselves noticed. Previous winners have already gone on to do great things in the mountain bike film industry.

NOTE ON RIDING STYLES
Don't be misled into thinking that this is a competition solely for dirtjumpers and freeriders. All riding styles (yes, even road) are welcome and the rider judging panel includes downhill, freeride, cross country and trail riders and racers. If you don't believe us check out last years winner from Ben Conway which was a cross country themed video featuring one rider [CLICK TO VIEW].
