photos are pretty boring as usual*, though there is one of me getting air!! (I actually thought I was only pulling a wheelie)

*I cant understand how these photography companies always turn up to these events and find the most boring peice of track they can find "setup shop" and shoot off really boring photos, then expect to charge big bucks for them.
XC races aren't the easiest for getting exciting shots and with the Moonride being pretty flat it would have been difficult, but I can think of many more interesting places they could have been shooting photographs.
unfortunalty they go with the aim of getting a clear photo of everyone (but strangly enough the didn't manage that this time) so the pic the easiest place to achieve this Crazy

Also not good for someone in a darkish area to have a flash go off.

Then again they may have got some better pics of riders and people more willing to pay.

IMHO

Are they not professional photographers?

Ah yup. Only one photo of me, which confirms the fact that I only saw one camera out the whole entire time Huh

Great I was hoping you could see the transistion from that, and you can just see my hands coming back onto the handbars after doing a one handed frame grab.

Ive been to lots of races where the photographers took the time and effort to take better pics in more interesting spots. Its a shame they only took pics of us riding on the fire road, pretty boring shots.

They are pro photographers and for 69 bucks I would expect a lot better qaulity of photo than what they provided.

Check out these pics from sportograf.de which were taken at the Scott 24hr enduro in Mt Stromlo...they toom all the pics there and were damn good qaulity:

They are actually pretty good qaulity, photos that I would (and my fiancee did) buy. There were plenty of spots in the moonride for great photos in the forest, a real shame they didnt take advantage of this. I guess for the photographers they just wanted to treat it like a production line and get lots of clear shots of peoples race numbers.

You make a very good point. They must make some money other wise they wouldn't do the same thing every year.

If I was more motivated and had the money I'd get a couple of remote flashes, lenses and take my own. But even riding in a team the last thing I wanted to do was go for a pedal into the forest to take some pics, but if was to be making money out of it my mind would change very quickly (maybe).

Is it just my monitor or are the pics rather dark?

i dunno about the photography, the race approved? ones have rarely interested me, but if you compare wafes pics to the 'race approved' ones from the 4x race in hamilton a few months back, we see the difference between a bored camera for hire and a photographer who gives a parc about the final product

I suspect after the debarcle at taupo last year with photographers, it turned out anyone can take photo's and sell them there, so I assume it would be that same at Rotorua Paranoid
