Yeah you're about right Clenched...take a bit to dry out in the winter. hoping to do some gravel work on the climbs through summer for next winter. cos it's really only the climbs that suck badly in the winter.

Extreme... stay tuned for a flowing XC dh

It's definitely going to be a bit of a mess at the moment. the main problem with riding it in this rain is not that it's slippery but that the clay clogs up your moving parts really quickly. But once theres a bit of gravel down in key places you shouldn't pick up as much mud and going fast on gravel clears you tires out really well.

sweet so i can count you in for lugging a wheelbarrow of gravel then Smile

I'd love to make it all weather riding up there. would take a good amount of gravel though...kinda like the 'natural' surface it has now though

Yip, gravelling a track is easier said than done. The structures tend to do a pretty good job of clearing your tyres out sometimes too.

Afternoon All

I was hoping to do the Linger and Die races in Alex this weekend but due to the excessive lung butter levels I’m picking I won’t be riding anywhere near a pace that could be called racing.

Instead I want to get out digging on Saturday.

Plan of attack would go something like this

a quick walk through with grubber and shovel fluffing minor things that need attention.

Cut through with scrub cutter then dig in revised exit line for TTP.

I’ll call the woodman and see how the decking timber (revised wallride/ the berm platform jump/ TTP exit and Green Mile exit stunts) is going. Might be able to finish the revised wallride off too.

I’ll be up there from 10 till I’m knackered. As always any help is appreciated, look for the white van along Laings Road.

Cheers

Morning All

Got loads done on Saturday.
Had a good walk through the trails with the grubber and shovel giving attention where needed in preparation for summer riding. The traisl have held up really well to the recent rain, snow and frost.
The ‘missing section’ of boardwalk in the long board walk in stage 1 has been filled.
The Big Rock has had dirt added to the transition to smooth it out. I’ve also closed off the world’s dodgiest chicken route too…it wasn’t planned, I don’t want it and I think it’s worse than rolling the rock.
The exit ladder of Double Barrel has been realigned and should make the stunt flow much better
The first skinny of The Third Place is now rock solid, it was kinda tippy
Drain coil has been installed just below the ‘wall-ride’ in TTP, which should dry the approach to the “Valley of skinnys”
The new TTP exit line has now been cut in and just needs digging in and the ladder drop and see-saw built. The wood for these will be picked up on Thursday or Friday this week.

Trail report:
S n L stage 1
Still wet and frozen in many places, probably best to stay off for a few days
Stage 2
some patches of open clay are slippy but generally good riding
The Third Place
as Stage 2. The ‘Wall ride” isn’t finished just yet so be careful after the Duck pond gap stunt.
The Green Mile
Nice and dry through to Cocaine Alley as it doesn’t get much in the way of sun.

I’m hoping to get up to finish the ‘Wall ride” berm on Saturday and start digging the TTP exit line.
Cheers

I'll be back in just over a month and keen as to get back into helping out.

Cheers mister. yeah i'm hoping see-saw drop will stop anyone on moto coming up the trail.
Got heaps done on Saturday. i should have had more tools up there as we had 4 of us up there, cheers Mike and Mike and Marcus.

We nailed the deck on the wooden berm and Mike trialled it. See vid forum for that.

started digging the new exit line too.

Hoping to get another good turn out this saturday and we'll see how much of the next exit we can get finished. Will have to strengthen up my roof rack though as there's now a hint of sag init from the timber on friday.

Cheers
G

Morning All

I’m hoping to get exit stunt sequence for The Third Place done this Saturday. The jobs remaining are:

Finalise the ladder drop stunt

Finish digging in about 70m of the revised line (including the join, smooth approach & back of the rock jump, the second join and the approach)

Install see-saw

Install entrance skinny to Green Mile

Start work on Berm stunt

Keen to get a few bikes up there too to finalise position of ladder drop so it’s roll-over-able. Need to get it so it’s not going to grab chain-rings for the punters (like me) that will roll over it.

I’ll be up there as usual on Saturday at 10am. I’ll park the van just above where I’ll be working…any help is welcome.

Cheers
