I piked tonight
(I piked on my own ride)
I'll be in Taupo for the day night thriller on friday night - sunday morning.
Then thinking of heading over to Vegas sunday morning, maybe do a couple of shuttle runs.
Anyone keen to ride urban walkways&trails otumoetai area, instead of fighting traffic 2 go 4 aride
Me and some friends meet to do this every Monday night. We gather at 6.15pm at the carpark outside the Spa Pool shop by the traffic lights on the corner of Chapel St/Route P. Normally between 3-6 people but the more the merrier. We ride till approx 8pm most times, and vary the route to keep it semi-interesting. I have a spare set of lights if you dont have any.
Hopefully see you tonight if you are keen.
what other rides do u guys do,aways keen, just say when where. whats a good light 2 buy thats lite & lasts a couple hrs. & does'nt cost as much as 5 new helmets & front wheel .

Other rides - for now keep an eye out here, but Im trying to get a regular Wednesday night ride also, primarily up at Summerhill, but perhaps at Oropi occasionally also. I work out of town on a Wednesday, so it suits me if it starts at more like 7pm, its difficult to make it much earlier for me. But either myself or mr_bob will post up in this thread on wednesday what the plan is. On weekends Im normally heading over to Vegas on at least one day, but not sure how much longer I can keep this up.
Lights - most of the guys out tonight are using a ghetto system, made up from cheap car spottys, wired thru a lamp switch, and running off a fairly heavy battery in a backpack. To me they work well, cost under $100 all up, but they are not very light.

I might be riding wednesday morning (day off work) but won't be riding in till monday next week (except if I take my bike up to auckland) I need to get back to studying.
If you need a spare light Griff, I'll have a spare when I get my one sent back from wellington sometime

I only have my Bullit for Mtb-ing at the mo, so lengthy XC trips are probably out of my comfort zone, but who knows once I get established. ive heard good things about Summerhill & am looking forward to finding out first hand

I hit up the "other" side of the road up Summerhill on Saturday, was soo impressed with the downhill that I thought I would have a spiel on here. Done.
Talked to Karl who owns/makes the tracks up there, nice guy. Word was there were some bmx banditos (ex US pro circuit) going big and doing backflips down at the DJs. I saw them but not while they were riding. Wondered what the guys with flash photography gear were standing round for.

I'm sure I can see Dented's lights way out towards the estuary over towards bethlehem.
tagged along on the ride monday nite with my seriously underpowered lite as my nitelight battery is fuXXored and wouldnt charge up
that will teach me for waiting till the morning of the ride to put it on charge and so not finding out it was screwed till I was putting the stuff in the car
but found as long as I didnt get too far behind the person in front of me my light would fill in the gap
I really didnt realise there was that much boardwalks and offroad walking tracks around! we must have gone 20kms+

Go the planners migrating to Tauranga! I'm moving up next week, so will be keen to hook up for some rides - my boss was even kind enough to have a tow bar fitted to my work car so that I can chuck bikes on the back! I have the stinky and a manic SS to play on, so am fully looking forwrad to exploring some new trails

If you go to a safety shop you can get these l.e.d headlamps. I use two at the moment and on the brightest setting they work wicked
