how does it help people stay in touch any better than say a cellphone or email?
ummm how many gigs of photo storage does it have? or would I have to sacrifice my wallet for that?

Oh man ... the whole second life thing gives me the creeps.
What really scares me is that by the time my daughter is a teen ager .. that stuff will be even way more evolved .... and then it will REALLY scare me.

There was an article about this in the paper the other day. It had a whole bunch of photos of user and their avatars. It was a bit strange in that many people looked like their avatars, or at least dressed up like them. The weird thing is, is that they have "normal" second lives.... how boring. At least with online games you can lead abnormal lives and kill people, steal cars and other cool stuff.

If a male friend attempted to set me up an internet-friend-sharing profile, I'd kick his esra |
Agreed, I only joined because a girl I used to work with invited me .....

It is great for 2nd tier friends. It lets you stay in passive contact. Every so often, you can catch up with what they are doing and you get invites to parties, etc that you may have missed if you are not in regular contact.
It definitely has hit critical mass lately. It is basically myspace for old folks.

Thirded(or whatever). I joined because Eryn wouldn't stop berating me until I did.

Your all weak. My GF keeps harping on about it but I'm yet to cave in.
