Also reckon it'd make a great night ride!! Smile

for a day trip I would prefer a lightish wind and overcast skies.... sometime in march after Karapoti I will take an early ferry on a sat morning, water taxi out, ride back to picton for the ferry back home. Would be somewhat knackering, mainly due to the kms concerned - the hills aren't too bad Smile

33 was at Blenheim. Wink Yes it was a record for Blenheim for November. December's record (since 1932) is 34 degrees. Metservice doesnt have a weather station on the QCW. Though it did feel pretty warm. Smile

I think the big day is very doable. Smile I did Furneax - Portage very comfortably and cruisy - adding that extra bit at the start would be pretty ok. It would leave less time for taking photos I guess tho. Sad

I would love to do this ride again with a much higher level of fitness, and still in sunny weather.
That way I could admire more of the simply amazing scenery and take more photos Smile

The QCW is very much worth riding for those of you are wondering whether to give it a go one day...
