Your talking about that tight singeltrack of the classic intersection right? |
Dunno, haven't been up Dun to many times before but certainly know where I should have gone. Guess I was having to much fun descending and going fast. I did check for traffic coming down the classic briefly which may have distracted me from where I was going. The track I went down was pretty cool though and I was having a lot of fun until I realized I was off track and it's not until you turn around that you realize it's steeper then you thought and because of the speed, further to the top then you thought. I would have kept going as it was getting a little steeper which I like but I didn't know where I would end up.
Coming down to the Classic intersection from Third House - Classic, big wide road to the leftish, track I took - straight ahead and Dun track to the right of that up slight rise.

Oh and today I rode
Up old codgers (first time up that track in probably a year), up fireball, down turners, up to the top again, down turners again, up to the top, down martys, down those pd tracks (one of those jumps needs fixing, if you hit it with med speed you flat land), up to the cleveland singletrack, back down there and down codgers to branford park to watch dual slalom and then home.
Was the first time I have ridden turners in about 2 and a half months, been riding more technical trails like supplejack, peaking and broken axe. Despite always being able to ride all of turners, Im so much quicker now. Woot for progession.

Ah so not a very tight singletrack, but the 4wd track. Thats classic and takes you to the brook.

So the big wide road sign posted for walkers BROOK ?hrs - is that not the classic? I've ridden down there before and that comes out the the road plus I've watched the downhillers go down there. This other track is to the right of that one. It may join back onto the classic, I don't know. The Dun is to the right again.

Im confused. At the classic, theres 4 different ways. Dun Mt to third house, dun Mt to tantragee. Both wide-ish singletracks. The classic up to the top of fringe and the classic down to the brook, both narrow-ish 4wd road. Used for the downhill. Then there is a very very tight singletrack. Between the classic going down and the dun mt to third house.
Are you talking about classic intersection or the intersection with the seat and picnic table.

Hmmm. Maybe is was the classic. That tight singletrack sounds interesting. Is it worth riding and where does it come out?

Never ridden it. Thats why I wanted to know. Thats why I was I bit surpirsed before, as it would be pretty hard to go down there accidently meaning to go down dun mt. Looks very tight, imagine it is a possum line. And would probably finish at the brook camp/sanctuary. Im judging all this by the start of the track. Anyone on here ridden it and can give us some details? Have you ridden peaking, thats a lovely singletrack.

Man, I must have been running on something else. Not enough to eat or to much powerade in the pack or something to confuse the turnoff. I should have just kept going.
No haven't ridden peaking. Haven't got any riding buddies so just tend to stick to tracks that I know - or at least thought I knew. Not sure how fit I am compared to most as I don't ride for any length of time, just up and down Richmond Hill mostly - 45mins return to home every day or two and a few laps of Turners occasionally. Didn't have any problem with todays ride. Notice there's not so good cellphone coverage around if I get into trouble and would have a hard time explaining where I was anyway.

I think the track that AMZ went down is the steep firebreak about 1/4 way down the classic on the right it ends up intersecting with the Dunn walkway at the Picnic table and carrys on all the way to the Brook Rd... it is very steep.
The single track at the classic /Dunn intersection does indeed drop down to the old Brook dam and is bloody awesome for about 4/5ths of the way down , it is tight and technical and fun but near the end it becomes unrideable just too steep and sketch and no real track until you drop into the creek then you pick up the bigger dam walkway out to the motor camp which is a cool run out.
We were going to clean up the sketchy end of this track once but because this is going to be in the Brook sanctuary eventually we decided to Flag it.

You gotta be kidding me. Haven't even dreamed about taking a bike down that track - had enough clampering down. Very cool place for a walk in to see the dam though
