Yip anonther mint dig day, im really feeling quite shagged after that effort.

Im really impressed how well all the different sections are piecing together.

Cant wait till the all the major digging has been done and we get a average run time.

I timed my last run down yesterday - around 4:20. I could probably go quicker if there wasn't as much slippiness on some of the corners, and if I wasn't so shagged.

I also think I need to get up towards that nicely banked corner just before dave's berm - it had a gorse bush that was hanging down over the corner which meant that I kept on bashing through gorse whenever I decided to take the nice swoopy high line :o

Yesterday was great, the track is looking sweet and a few more days will see it completed Big Grin

Cant wait to do a full run without taking on some gorse i though was looking at me strange.

Yar - yours was a good test of our soft-stop-bumper track building system.

Remember, next time, just lean the bike over and turn the handlebars a wee bit. I'm sure that with this advice you'll have corners sorted out in no time Sly

Even if 4 minutes works out as an average time ,its more than i was hoping .

Ive got a few changes to make over the next few months that will make it more fun to ride but will probably shorten this time a bit.

Im really liking the idea of making it hard to pedal by adding corners, jumps and pumps everywhere and making people focus technique for speed.
That theory is just starting to really take shape now.

Also chainless race will go a goer at some point, although there is one very very rocky corner at the bottom that may need to be taken back.

How about we just plan for a chainless/promise not to pedal run next dig day? It could be fun even if only for tihss and giggles.

Jono, I hear you have some of those new maxxis ardents. Any Good? Do the 3C compound have a dual ply casing?

Yep - I liked them. They weren't a full-on mud tyre, and they did clog up with mud, but they also cleared pretty quickly.

They roll pretty nice, and grip up on roots. Also, in the most slippy points of jawbone (specifically the two-step-off-camber corner, wet, and clay) they only drifted a tiny amount.

I've got two different tyres - the DH (on the front, as it's super-tacky), and the 3C on the back. Although looking at the maxxis website I might get longer life running the other way around. Anyways...

The 3C doesn't say anything explicit about dual ply casing, but comparing the two tyres I couldn't really tell any difference between the casings anyway - they seemed as thick as each other. And there was only about 15g between the tyres (both about 1.1Kg for the 2.4")

how about next dig we work on the bowl section with the up hill after "Snakes alley" and then do some semi chainless runs . In the scheme of things its pretty high on the to do list.

Ill see if i can get up there sometime over the next week to mark out what will work.

Could be nice to have a "pumpy" wee double in the bottom of that bowl to keep the flow/momentum up through there...

They must be dual ply, the 2.4 kevlar bead version is a whole lot lighter than 1.1 kg and is definitely a single ply casing.

Could do maybe,

Best thing to do is get the basic line working well first and then work out where we can add the smaller details.

Ive tried that type of thing before and its pretty trcky to get right.
