I had a giggle at this:

Q. yo RC i want to no why when ever i hit a little jump on my kona shred i do a faceplant in the ground and almost die

A. RC: You need to stop jumping anything until you understand and practice your jumping technique.

sounds like I might flag it - too many tiwkcufs wanting to do 40 foot gaps and huge doubles from the sounds of it.

I'll stick to my baby jumps for now until I'm comfortable being judged by my riding ability. Double Thumbs Up

Oooooooh Monolith such anger. Why not come up the windmill with me and session those jumps. Plenty of learning potential up there, I'm taking a newbe up there. Chewbacca pm me if you're keen to go and session long gully some time. We could head up next weekend.

SO there is a dig day at long gulley this sunday?

I am keen, what time do you meet and where?

Can you sift in some riding as well?

What tools should I bring?

Do you need a wgtn Mtn bike pass to attend dig-days? (I do have one but are just curious)

Yea this sunday we will be busy and are hope'n to get enough people to shape up the new buldozed section cleared enough so everyone can start using it asap.
if you just meet at the enterance gate around 10am .

if you have a grubber of a rake bring it ,we have tools but do run short if heaps of people turn up.

Digging goes from 10-1pm and then i'll be sessioning fo a while since i havnt ridden up there for a couple of months.

In regards to the membership thing , Its ok to bring someone along to check it out if they arnt members but we strongly insist they become members if they would like to return.

shame you guys didnt turn up to maidstone yesterday- twas pretty quiet, and there was only a few groms around, they didnt get in the way too much. But there was 4 of us came down from palmy to introduce 2 new guys to the track and practise our jumping skills/general confidence. was an awesome day with huge progress made by everyone. although, i suspect I have broken my toe.... ah well, that the price! Big Grin

I think monolith statement still bugs me....youve gotten the wrong idea.

I ended up sifting through the Karori Bmx track for about 4 hours, well it should be called the Techy jump park and todlers play area. after 1.30 its a case of picking the line with the least amount toddler traffic.

There are so many sets of jumps there that require a unique set of skills for each.
when you dont feel like your getting anywhere one one section then you try a different line and come back later and try again.

Ive not done true doubles for a while and was good a having a crack at some of the vert ones, still a few you wont see me trying for a while i think.
Was a good a day cause ive got bunch of sore muscles reminding me now.

note: Its better if the wind is heading south too (tailwind on all lines) .

I quite possibly do have the wrong idea - I had visions of people starting out on fairly small drops/doubles and progressing up - until others started talking about things I don't feel at all confident about...

the last time I tried a new drop (The tiny one by the stairs on alexandra park, mt vic) I got laughed at by half a dozen people because I mustn't have looked "Cool" or something with my sketchy landings (x3). When freinds laugh at you for that kind of thing it kinda dents one's confidence and willingness to try anything else new with anyone watching. Smile

just wanting to put together a crew of good people who want to learn how to jump.

its pretty tihse if people are taking the ssip just coz you're not up to thier standard- everyone starts somewhere, and goes at their own rate. practising skills with maktes should (and usualy is) about pushing each other outside comfort zones to try new things, or pick up new techniques. Not laughing at one poor bugger who cant get it right every time.
On sunday I tried the drop out of the bottom of maidstone onto the grass for the first time- was so excited id made it i never bothered to turn for the burm and tumbled off. didnt matter because I was sitting there with a huge silly grin on my dial!

Anyone who laughs at a mate when hes trying something new and not quite getting it is a pillock Hmmmm
