Well my single speed arrived and its beautiful - and LIGHT. Under 10kg. In return for a meal and copious amounts of booze, Ricky helped my by sorting out the gear ratio, and on Saturday I did my first SS ride up Makara (sporting a slight hangover).

I am so so proud of myself. I rode right to the top and only got off a hand full of times, probably managed 95% of it. I was hurting like hell, but I am stubborn. not used to being on a hard tail, my body took a bit of a hammering on the down hills too, and I arrived in the car park tired, muddy, and BROKEN. Went home and could not do a thing - and today is not much better. My whole body aches!

Can't wait to go again - I am going to get good at this! This is going to be fun!

And thanks to Ryda and Scarey Cat for taking me on my maiden ride!

And lots of thanks to Captain Caveman for such a lovely bike!

I second that, the ride to work was awesome tho. Felt strong on the bike, tho riding down teh gorge at 80k's with rain and water from the road, driving into my face was kinda sucky. I noticed a slight wobble occurs in my bike above 80k's which was disturbing. Hungover struck later in the day. Rod's black russians are teh devils work

To the point where everyone was asking who's the NEW kona was. They didn't beleive that it was second hand. Kinda points to the fact that Cavie is such a wussie rider that he nevers rides/never rides hard enuff to crash. As much as an annoying dillhole that he is, he takes care of his kit. If he 's selling a bike, and your umming and ahhing, buy it. tihs this one came with touch up paint.

The checks in the mail right??

Here is my not-so-light ss - around 29lb with these tires and Q-shifter seatpost on!
Gone to ss for the winter to build muscle in legs - can't see much point in taking weight off the bike if I am trying to get fit Smile

Yeah, was keeping the cables long for when I transferred brakes to fully - not going to happen now so saving for goodridge braided lines and will shorten then!

I miss my single speed. Its like my old girlfriend - I hardly ever rode it, but it was nice to know I always could if I wanted. Oh well, we all have to move on I guess. I'm glad someone else is enjoying her perverted pleasures now. Enjoy! I'm Cool

actually I HAVE seen him crash that Unit - headfirst into a tree at speed around bottle lake! Double Thumbs Up Like any good blingerohw he saved the bike by putting his head between tree and bike - he then also spent about 10mins berating the world in general for having put a scratch on the brake lever (leading to him sourcing some new, even lighter ones)

stun can only aspire to such heady heights! Satan
