Never really got in Sonic Youth either. Lee Randello's (sp) guitar work is amazing at times but otherwise never really got them.
Dinosaur Jr on the oher hand, awesome.

I rediscovered a James Plotkin release from 1997 last night - under the Title "flux". Experimental guitar-based loops in a trad song format. It very much rocks.
I don't think I've listened to it in the last six years, but it doesn't sound dated at all...

Springsteen's Devils and Dust. Great narrative music that is about real stuff. I'm slowly collecting all of his albums. The albums from the 70s to the mid 80s and then the more recent ones seem the best to me. It's like he needs America to be conflicted to situate his music properly in terms of its themes of decay and redemption.

An album I revisited recently is "Born in the USA": when it came out I thought it was utter tihs, I think because I was predisposed to dislike it because it was popular, and i didnt listen to or think about the lyrics. Its quite subversive actually.
and I really like the song "The River" and also "Glory Days": anthems of loss and lost youth.
and if you're in the mood for it "Nebraska" is O for Orsome. very "down" though.
Ive been listening to the Beatles "White Album" quite a bit of late. Gosh those boys were quite the talent, back in the day.

as for the Ramones anthology, do you like their version of " R A M O N E S" ?
