Postby Melissa_Theuriau on Mon 15/Feb/16 10:17am

The first riders set off on the Tour Aotearoa this Sunday, 21st.

Here's an exclusive look at Ollie Whalley's Kilometre krushing Lynskey 29SL.

To add to the fun, we will be hosting the spot tracker map right here on vorb. So we can all enjoy Ollie and the rest of the blue dots live!.

Here is the bike I'll be riding in the Tour Aotearoa.

It is a Lynskey 29SL titanium hardtail. I took off the stickers because they looked ugly. It makes for an awesome bikepacking bike as there is no paint to gark up from drool/scuffing or dragging it over rocks.

I run a Rohloff IGH because it is bomber and you get to run a chunky SS setup that laughs at rock strikes and chain dropping bumps.

I was weighing up whether to go bivy or tent (280g more) and decided for the latter after a sunny day riding the West Coast Wilderness Trail (go figure!) It'll be nice to have the option of pitching a tent in the rain rather than a steamy dutch oven in a 'waterproof' bivy.

I run an MSR bladder which has 4L water capacity, with plenty of pockets on bike and person for snakes, pies and other nutrition.

I'll endeavor to send through the odd post from the ride here, as well as putting heavily filtered photos on Instagram under @whalleyollie and I'm sure the #touraotearoa hashtag will get a flogging from others too!

Aussie Aussie Aussie! sorry, Ollie Ollie Ollie! :p
But seriously, great to see you racing back on home soil, can't wait to start watching the dots  No snow / bears or bitey things to contend with - you won't know yourself!

Looks like a sexy setup  no belt drive tho, would have been good for the sand?
