I've got one of those too, and that's the thing about the hexus, the chain breaker on it works (in my opinion) just as well.

Phunk's setup is pretty cool though, i can see the appeal of it.

I have one of these on my key ring. Really usefully when you borrow a bike or something knowing a simple problem won't have you walking home.

I don't believe a multi tool can be called a multi tool unless it has a bottle opener. Note how well used the bottle opener is.

Although I find most bikes are able to open beer bottles too...

I've got a virgin one in the saddlebag of my cross bike as nothing's broken on the bike that requires a fix on the trail. I actually forgot I had it till I read this post.
I'm actually hoping I manage to break something on the bike to put it to use. Either that or I rescue some damsel in distress who takes pity on my unused tool

The chain breaker on my old multi broke recently, after years of abuse.
Used it as an excuse to get a new gadget, with some selection assistance from nsmb, I like the style of the DX in the review, but no chain breaker meant no go.
Topeak Ratchet Rocket, comes with a "waterproof" case and a couple of mounting options. I prefer to stuff it in Pouch O'Toole with the rest of the collection.
The ratchet has nice short crisp clicks, and a second bit slot & magnet in the handle. The magnets are strong - I have trouble pulling a 2mm bit from the handle end, too skinny for grip. Not sure if I'll swap any bits out, or bring extras... I'm sure needing something I don't have will help me choose.

What's the deal with the stem spacer?
On-the-trail bar height adjustment?

I've come across folks in the past who after an off seem to have done the final compression to their headset / crown race / etc and suddenly have an un-tensionable setup.
Add spacer, tension, tighten stem bolts, remove spacer, replace cap, ride.
Or similar.
Lots of the tools I carry never seem to get used on my bike, but have come to the rescue on many group rides.

I really like my ratchet rocket. I bought it originally to get to freight free on an order. But it does work really well, and it does live in my main back pack. I should buy another one for my small pack.

Are those Hayes thingys pad spacers?
I have a similar but different Hayes piece of plastic in my toolbox which is the business when it comes to pad separation.

Yup, pad spacers.
Mostly used when removing wheels to fit the bike in a car.
(or when someone won't shut up about their rubbing brakes).

I like the idea of the torque heads on the NTX, I get nervous around carbon when I do trailside fixes.
