Re: Epic Jungle Hike-a-bike Shoes Wanted. Recommendations?

Hmmm a history of my shoes by internet thread.

So the Lake MX 165's that I bought back in 06 are still going, but are pretty tired. Bought a pair of the PI X-Alp enduros, as I thought they would be a good replacement for epic jungle hike a bike missions but busted the ratchet off them last week. http://mountainbikingzane.wordpress.com ... c-weekend/
PI importer are being nice and offering a pair of the new season X-Alp drift shoes at cost... which is a 3 velcro strap shoe, with the same sole, but I am wondering if I should just put that money towards something more robust.

Any new suggestions for epic hike a bike missions?? Some of those Shimano mountain touring shoes might be the business (although that probably means buying by interweb as probably not stocked in NZ). I know a number of people rate the shimano DX shoes, but I would like something with a more aggressive outsole.

On a more serious note I would be replacing the Lake MX 165 with Lake MX165 as I plan to do for my next pair of work shoes. They're are great shoe

I just picked up a pair of Shimano MT41 mostly for commuting duties as well as hike-a-bike missions, they were in the shop in my size and cheap!
