just broken glass etc from things falling off shelves.

we headed straight for the hills, back home now though. the roads are carnage, huge cracks, rubble fallen down, flooding...

no water/sanitation so might take the kids and head off to stay with family

Al Lees Christchurch Cycle Race is cancelled for obvious reasons. Sounds like some of the cycling community did not get off lightly in the earthquake. Check with your mates to see if they need help.

We got of pretty lightly in Opawa and I hear Prebbleton wasn't too bad but one of my riders in Lincoln had a lot of damage and town is like a bomb site.

Looks like some road even opened up a little.

Not many in Chch with net access I'd say, I'm using my USB modem.

Thoughts on riding/training in Chch today?

weird thing was we never lost power or net - I was on GNS checking the aftershocks 30mins after. But 1/2 a km down the road wobbler was powerless.

Wonder if the summit road is shut - really tempted to ride out and see how big the rock fall off castle rock is

I have suggested that my riders don't. 10:51am and we got a pretty good jolt.

Picking that Vorbers in the Emergency Services will be having a pretty full on day. Mad respect to Gydey, Symon, Scott brothers, Brooksie and others. Stay safe guys!!!

Mayor Bob Parker has asked that people stay off the roads. Also to check on your Neighbours and avoid water use.

Huge respect!

Well that's it. No water to take out anyway so that probably answers my question. Another jolt as I type!!

It was a good thing no body died (best time of day/night for it to happen) but so sad to see the lovely old buildings damaged :( and roads worse for riding on than they already were :(
