OK - so I'm riding along 'Sally Alley' and I'm trying to keep up with littleman. (So going damn fast)

Come over this rise and the front end of my bike comes off the ground. By the time I get the front wheel to kiss earth again I'm heading towards the edge of the track - with a nice big drop included in the package... :0

Being a stupid git I then grab a handful of front disc brake... :butbut: My front wheel locks up and my entire bike and body does a graceful 180 around the front wheel...

Did I mention the front wheel is still heading towards the edge of the track? So me and my bike fly off the track backwards   - I grab a tree and flounder back onto the track...

If only we'd got it on film... ???

I dare anyone to compete with my pants ripper at the Terrorwhiti bowl a few years ago, altho I did recieve some grazes periously close to the jobly bits and had difficulty walking for a day or so, It was caught on camera and made it onto Saturn TV
Imagine High Speed, big massive bowl, cameras and people egging others on. Bad combination. I believe someone talked me into having another go (Tama?) and I foolishly said the dreaded words "yup I can go bigger" Went back up the track, turned, took a deep breath, and pedalled, and didn't back off, pulled up on the edge and flew, had time for "OH FARK!!, OH FARK THIS IS BIG!!!, OH FFAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!" Landed, left foot came of pedal, ass hit seat, slipped backwards, ass hit tire, lycra gripped tire, skin gripped tire, bad memorys!! haunting dreams for the last 3 1/2 years.

A sub moral of this story is never sit on a Hutchy Coyote at high speed, trust me it hurts

Y'know what I was saying about "wounded in pride, but not in flesh"....

Well, at 5:30am this morning I found myself at the Afterhours pissing into a cup for a half awake doctor who wants to check for suspected kidney damage after I had a sleepless night of strange pains in my side. :(

Happily the diagnosis is "soft tissue injury" and my organs seem happy. So I have a script for painkillers, and instructions to "move around a lot" - bah...

Isn't it funny how crashes creep up on you when you least suspect them. Most often at that point in your riding when you have convinced yourself that you may actually be a god of some variety, I always like to think of myself as the God of lollies handing out lollies to lots of little girls and giving them untold joy :) . Anyhow that's beside the point. The point is it's all a lie as told by many of us egotistical cyclist types.
I recall onetime back in my youth when myself and a friend were racing down a hill by the university. He was ahead leading into a sweeping left but i was pushing hard to catch up as he had muttered something demening to my sexual orientation on the way past me. Just at the apex of the corner he went down in a spectacular heap. I remember my twisted mind had just enough time to think, ha sucked, you who thought you could pass me and then the world turned side ways. I managed to smash into the grond and my friend going around about 50km, not good. I think there mightbe a moral there somewhere but I've crashed on that corner twice since then so whatever it is it's elluded me.

The moral is that you will be destined to relive that crash time and again until you realise that you should have run over your friend, laughing manically  :sneaky:

What the Hell is up with this?

Over a week after my original night-time painfest it all flares up again and I spend 10 minutes getting out of bed (movement causes pain, pain causes convulsions, convulsions cause pain) to get to the sweet sweet painkillers - and then 15 minutes of shuffling around trying not exist and hoping for the drugs to kick in sooner rather than later...

This is not boding well for the long weekend of smaur action I have planned... Better pack the drugs and hope for the best...

Probably wouldn't go amiss to do a bunch of stretching over the next week or so...try and ensure that it doesn't hurt to pull stuff...

speaking of IT, one of my dumbest crashes involved a big ring stall on a 2 foot log. For some strange reason in the late 80's I was riding a dirt bike enduro on my mtb.....having somehow avoided being run over by rip-snorting motorcycles I fanged around this corner and hullo mr log......then instantaneously hullo mr stem. I somehow dragged myself out to the end of the section(only 50m away as it turned out) and after painfully explaining my recent log/stem/crotch rendevous to the checkpoint blokes they said "we wondered what that strange noise was" . My girlfriend of the time wanted to know what the hell I had been up to.....

Having obtained grazes and bruises where I never had any previously, I spent the next 5 years riding with a big bit of foam zip-tied to the back of the stem

Speaking of the need for drugs Tama, I've spent the last 3 days in a similar place of need......unfortunately I can't attribute my situation to a bike crash.......although after 3 days and nights of fevers, spewing, migranes, and worst of all no biking......at least my popped shoulder seems to be getting better! But that's probably relative to how crap I feel from this other stuff...

Good luck getting better for Te Iringa etc

Hey Wookie.....3 days without eating anything....could ya handle that? That's what I just went thru ???
