The Whirinaki Mountain Bike Track is opening this Saturday and we have a full colour map/ brochure for you to download.

DOC have put a lot of effort into this track and it's fantastic to see them get behind mountain biking in one of the beautiful parts of the North Island.

The Track Opend From 1.30pm Onwards On Saturday

The track opens to the public from 1.30 onwards on Saturday 12 August 2006. Please dont try and ride it before then! Thanks :)

If your going from taupo way:- if yougo up the Broadland road (the one that goes past the motor race circuit) turn left after Broadland village it cut a heap out there is a small amount of gravel road on Goudies RD

Un-believable track !!!!!!!!!!, thanks DOC, the work you put in is amazing, and if you are coming down for the worlds, and have a spare avo, DO IT.

Highly recommend this ride, track is a bit soft (but then it has been raining a bit :) and it is new) would suggest at least reading the map before going, not that you can really get lost but it does help to know which direction they suggest to get the sweet downhill (cough or you might end up with a long up hill and 4wd downhill :( ).

It is not particularly technical (as the grade 2-3 suggests) but if your idea of exploring nature is on two wheels then this is a rare chance to ride through native forest :thumbsup:
