The NZDJO in Woodhill's Transition Airfield is fast becoming one of the highlights of the year for Dirt Jump Mountain Bikers AND spectators alike. This year not only will NZs top riders be flocking from all around the country (including Kelly McGarry, Luke McCombie and Karl Bensemann from the seriously awesome Queenstown Gorge Road crew) but the Gravity Team from the USA (The Mountain Bike equivalent to Moto Xs Crusty Demons) will be throwing down tricks we have only ever seen "on the telly" over here.
Qualifying rounds will be held on the Saturday from 1pm. Those lucky enough to make it through will go head to head with the NZs top invited riders and also get to ride alongside the Gravity Team on Sunday at 1pm. The top rider will go on to win the biggest cash prize in NZ Mountain Biking to date.
Last years event saw Dirt Jump Mountain Biking thrust into the spotlight and is now becoming one of the most desirable genres of Mountain Biking (especially with the younger, easily fixed, non mortgage holding, non working age group) With bigger jumps and new lines the Transition Airfield will be torn apart (in a good way) by these mad bikers.
Expect to see tricks like Backflips, 360s and with names like Barrel Roll, Tailwhip, Superman Seat Grab, Indian Air, No Foot Can, NacNac and others that havent even been seen before.
Obstacles include 5 big dirt jumps, 2 massive shipping containers, wallrides, satellite boxes, berms and more.
Come on down and see the big tricks and big spills of the NZDJO from 1pm Sunday March 8. Just by coming along you will be ing the draw to win a DELUXE Air NZ Mystery Break to a top MTB destination.
