Getting your things around in a new way - Cooreea
Sunday, 19 October 2008

Gwilym, Cactus founder, has been on sabbatical in Europe. He has been looking for some new ways of doing things and revelling in the different culture.

While away he has been working on a new business which might benefit Cactus-ites, they being a mobile and free-wheelin bunch.

www.cooreea.co.nz

Cooreea (www.cooreea.co.nz) is an internet based collaborative transport network; which means it is a website you can enter things you need to be somewhere else, other people can enter their planned journeys, and you can interact and make deals.

The idea is to get some more efficiency into the transport network and make it easier and cheaper to travel and freight stuff, while sharing costs.

So...it has only been alive for a couple of days...get along there and enter some test listings...use it to get over the hill to Paynes at New Years, or send your skis home from Wanaka...

Supertrousers - Under the Hammer - Step up Canterbury Expo
Tuesday, 17 June 2008

Cactus recently had the privilege of being involved in the Step Up Canterbury Expo in support of World Environment Day. The event was organised as a 'funny money' auction, with sponsors providing products for auction. Visitors to the expo earned funny money by visiting stalls and providing answers to questions regarding sponsors product lines.

We provided 4 pairs of Supertrousers for the auction - under the hammer these went for between $6000 and $11,000! Okay this was in funny money dollars however to earn around $2000 you needed to visit each stand at the Expo at least once. So you had to be fast and organised to get enough dollars to make it at auction. It was a great event and we really enjoyed participating.

During the event we also ran a draw giving away two pairs of our Supertrousers. We had around 350 entrants to the draw and the lucky winners were Jonathan Wasley and Christina Jackson. Congratulations!

Website news
Thursday, 29 May 2008
Over the last week we have been exporting and importing and scripting around to bring the Cactus website back to a New Zealand server - it is now happily gurgling away on one of Net24s machines in Christchurch and we think it will give a faster service for our customers. We have also simplified things (again) and from now on this website will be .... where you get fast access to Cactus stuff .. it always has been, but for a while we thought we needed more sizzle - now we are concentrating on the sausage again.
