Or maybe simply refrain from being so rude in the first place.

Stoked to hear the kebabs are still good.

Would love to leave earlier, but not an option. I could leave later, but that delays arrival time (even if I do get more rest at the outset) and I have a long way to go.

Kebabs are always good but I often keep trucking to Taihape for a BP butter chicken pie.

I don't miss that drive on a fri evening.

I normally stop at New World in Levin, and grab a couple of bits of fruit, some cherry tomatoes and some mixed nuts.

I love riding home out there on a Friday night. I haven't yet managed to beat a car the entire distance but have from the weigh station through to Mackays crossing. (for those out of towners that's about 20k).

She's a pretty nasty time to be traveling I'd honestly suggest holding off for even 1/2 - 3/4 of an hour. It'll probably make for a much more pleasant drive and the overall arriving time to where you're going probably won't be impacted much.

There all shit towns to eat at, never any good takeaway shops. Got to go to major towns/citys for good food, but its always inconvienient to do that so we always stop in Taihapie and waioru anyway when we go to Taupo or up north because it always seems to be lunch or dinner time

+1 for tasty, healthy things from the supermarket and buy a few snacks for next day too (usually eaten late at night when resistance to temptation is low  ).

What about banging up SH2 and over the Akas? From memory it's less than 10km further and may cut out the worst of it?

Traffic has been getting slightly less on friday nights over the past few months(just a general observation, maybe "after work drinkies"). If the weathers OK and everyone manages to avoid crashing into each other, that leaving time would be alright. Just go straight up the guts, the SH2 alternative isnt really worth the effort.

+1 for Jabies...awesome on a late night blood run to Whangavegas
