While the PM was banging in the first stake, Kevin was busy promoting BikeNZ’s 1.5 Campaign. If visiting overseas cyclists feel unsafe riding on our roads, their enthusiasm for our cycle trails when they get back home will be lost. Cycle safety is going to be an integral part of realising our Government's investment in the Cycleway.

I believe the Greens have plans to introduce a Member’s Bill to the House which will make it mandatory for a motorist to give a cyclist 1.5 meters of space when passing. Good for them!

I personally think the bloke who turned up in full regalia compounded things. By giving the impression if you are a cyclist you are typically a greenie making a point, not a punter getting from a to b.

man I don't care who showed up in/on what and wearing/not wearing what,at least somethings started,yup we gotta change driver mentality on our roads and cities,but I am happy that a trail system has started on a bit larger scale,I want my kids to study and enjoy nature,ride in it be apart of it,breathe it and if they have to ride a gravel road so be it instead of a nice single track,maybe we need to start from the countryside and work into the towns and cities,infiltrating might be easier than planting a seed in the middle,thats my 2 cents,12.5% gst and 20%acc
