Re: Crank Taupo Xc & Dh Combined Race

Postby NzidaR on Sat 24/Apr/10 4:14pm

We started to run in the DH track today, pretty damn loose. Few bits still to touch up yet but looking good.

Entry's will go live this Monday 26th April. Expect the XC to be between $35-45 and the DH to be $75-85. Remember with the Dh there will shuttles all day with the Southstar buses. All runs will be timed by transponder meaning only your best one will count.

Entry's for the Downhill will be limited around 120 riders (I think)

It's gonna have a real good 'scrub' soon. It's getting harvested for 3yrs so there will be no tracks anymore.

Perfect opportunity for you to get involved and help with the building of the DH facilities you want once the harvesting is complete.

First step..... join the club. Along with your mates. Clubs exist to represent and assist their membership. So they aren't going to do much for DH if the DH riders don't join the club.

We are already in the club. Harvesting is set to take 3 years (i reckon it will be longer) and by the time that comes around i (hopefully) wont be in Palmy anymore. Looks like its a long push up levin. Too muddy for wanganui :(

Stop your moaning man, you are making us palmy riders look like wimps :hmmm: . Too muddy, piffff, get hard, the mud is good fun and part of the experience of riding a mtb :o .

And it is going to take 3 years to harvest, but as soon as one section of forest has been logged, we can start building new tracks ;) so its not like we wont be able to ride there for 3 years.

Nah, that EXTREMELY muddy race at wangas put me off riding in the mud there. I dont mind a bit of mud but wangas turns into a mud river. The MTB club said that we wouldn't be allowed to because all tracks are going to have to go through them because they want it more organised like Rotorua.
