I've snapped several.

Me too, I don't have positive memories of square taper bb's on mountain bikes, more than once I got hurt from broken bb spindles.

I didn't break one myself. But I've seen it happen to others. Luckily the poor guy wasn't clipped in.

How many spindles breaking in one day as a courier does it take to get the hint?

I still remember the big stiffness increase going to ISIS. Then again from ISIS to GXP/HT2. No more chain rubbing the front derailleur under hard pedalling.

But I'm pretty sure we're past limits of detection going from GXP/HT2 to BB30.

Yup, both of those.
May as well go back, no more front derailleur to rub against anyway.

Now I'm all paranoid :(
I like the FSA tempo cranks I got and I like the shimano square taper unit - it screws in using metal on metal which I like, it's very solid feeling, it's very metal all over. It has no play... There's a lot to like but now you all made me sad :(

It'll be fine blaboon, all these broken bb's were done playing silly buggers I bet. When I was a courier I was 100kg, fit and strong, running 48:16 gears... Something had to give.
