Colville On A 29" Single Speed

Ridin Colville for the first time on my 29er SS Wondering what gear ratio people might suggest?

If you're doing the 70km, just use something 2:1 or thereabouts

i'd probably go a tooth or two lower than 2:1 on a 29er for that race.

That sounds about right. Also make sure you got a pair of riding shoes you don't mind doing a bit of walking in :p

I seem to remember reading something about the hill no longer being present for next year's course.....?

I hate that hill. The he 1st year I rode it I was completely unprepared. I had done very little riding leading up to the event, and I had no idea about the vertical climb on that hill. It just kept going and going. I could have cried.

Correct, The Hill isn't included in 2009

By a few teeth lower do mean something like 38:20?

Probably more like 32:18 or 34:20. Everyone is comfortable with a different ratio though so experiment, although 38:20 would be a big slog on the hills.
