Colville 40k Feedback

Postby trancemaster on Sun 14th Mar 2:43pm

Bring Back the 2009 40K track !

No more sealed roads in Mt bike racing ! (altho I hit 82 kph down the main road hill and a SSer said 92 !)

The 09 course gets the 1 big 450m hill out of the way first up, then its full-on tuff ridgeline trails.

The only prob in the 09 rainstorm was lack of marshalls & aid help for those caught out - once on the ridge theres no way out. This needs sorting.

Organisers need to promote the 40K as the most challenging track - just becos its less than the 70 distance dont mean its for beginners. Its Grade 3+ in the dry, and easily increases a Grade in the mud.

They have already neutered the 70 by taking the Mountain out of Mt Biking ...

If the hill goes back into the 72k then I don't bothering entering. I want tracks I can ride - not have to carry my frigging bike up.

Im with you on this one I enjoyed the Old 40 km more. Was harder and definitely sorts the men out from the boys, I don't mind a bit of push here and there. Can see why they may want to change the track though as last year there were people on the 40 km for over 8 hours if I remember right. I haven't done the 72 km so can't give my opinion on that, maybe next year.
