Are the tracks in Hanmer suitable for beginners? ie are they like Bottlelake or are they more like the single-tracks on the Port Hills?

Some of the tracks are suitable for beginners. There are easy "Bottle Lake" type tracks, but also fast singletrack, gravel road climbs and difficult technical sections of track. CMBC rides usually cover the more adventurous tracks, however there is the potential to form more that one group, depending on ability. Check with the ride leader.

Hi Ian!

What are the names of the trails in Hanmer that are suitable for beginners? Semi-steep uphills and mild downhills type. I'm going back to biking after 3 years of doing other sports but I'm not that confident about my riding ability and endurance yet. We might go to Hanmer this November.

Thank you :)
