Calling All Engineers

Postby Conners on Tue 22/Sep/09 12:17pm

I'm specifically looking for engineers who are current IPENZ member, so not actually all engineers...
Anyway - I'm into the finals of the IPENZ photo competition (well, the members choice part of the finals at least). The voting is open to all current members, and can be accessed through the members area on the IPENZ website.
The theme for this years competition is "Engineering or Art?" It's currently a close run thing, with my photo "Stack in the sky?" currently leading (54 votes vs 51 last time I checked). Seeing as there is $500 cash up for grabs I thought I'd better start pimping my entry good and proper (not even sure if there will be any vorbii who are members, but worth a crack).

Voting closes on Thursday (I think) Wednesday, so if you haven't voted already I'd really appreciate your vote!

Cheers,
Ben

For it to be art you need to write a short essay about how your picture of a stack is in fact not a picture of a stack, but rather a representation of something else, that in turn references something different again. Preferably multiple, unrelated things. It will definitely help if the things that are referenced and represented are obscure and inaccessible to everybody you know. Unfortunately without an explanatory essay of this nature, your photo - regardless of how aesthetically pleasing it is - cannot be art.

Yip - you should be able to. Your just need a login to their website. You username is (normally) your surname, you may need to know your membership number if you don't remember your password though.

Wow - 71 to 60 votes now

Cheers - was taken at Fonterra's Clandeboye site while I was working on a project down there two years ago. It's actually one of a series which I strung together to make into this pic.

I entered this one as well, but the judges obviously preferred the mysterious upside down puddle effect!

Mechanical for me - but I predominantly work with Chem-Pro's at work (they design stuff process wise, I turn it into reality for them ;) )
