My job sees me traveling quite a bit, and recently it was time to use up some airpoints or loose them. So we decided to go to Vagas. We had a couple of sheets of new(ish) 7mm ply from building works so it was bike box building time. The holes were last minute additions to reduce weight - the bike, box and two helmets was 31.9kg - phew. The box worked great - no damage to the bike or the box and the wheels make moving it around easy. We hired a Mary 1-9 from Bike Vagas which was superb. Looks like the bike will be traveling with me more often now.

that's some serious chain retention - sure you'll never drop a chain but the weight can't be good!

I'm currently addressing the retention issues on my 1x4, leaning towards the pauls chainguide (cos it's fully adjustable, light and doesn't require a bash ring)

cool, be keen to hear how it works - I was tossing up between the Paul and the MRP 1X - but there's something kind of chunky about the 1X - simple is good (that's the whole idea of the 1X concept)

at the moment it's just got the original front der locked out - functional but oh so ugly

owww (yes, I know - light for the intended purpose compared to a system2, but on a xc bike .... )

just the 32-36 ones or the 32-40s as well (for those of us running 38s)

Will do. Just weighed my paul comp guard and its bang on 50g. Way lighter than the mrp.

How are you shifting your 4 gear set up? I also just got some paul comp mountain shifters

Loving this, the 2010 Superfly ss prototype. 16 pounds of 29er goodness.

In much less exciting news I got my wheels for my new bike today. Some stans 355 29er rims on Hope pro II's
